All slabs are milled, dried, packaged and shipped out of Webster City, Iowa.

Economy Ground Shipping
Smaller slab products will be shipped via Economy Ground Services including UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, and Speedee Delivery. Every order is custom packaged for the items ordered, utilizing bubble wrap, soft foam, edge protectors and corrugated cardboard to protect your slabs from damage during transit.

LTL Freight Shipments
Due to the size and weight of larger products, some orders are shipped via LTL Freight. We provide three flat rate shipping options during checkout.
Unfinished slabs without additional custom work are custom made pallet, carefully packaged with required edge protection, currogated cardboard, banded tight for safe transit. Slabs prepped for finish, or fully finished are shipped out in a custom made crate built for the specific project. Custom crates are built to size from 2x4's and plywood leaving enough space to tightly fit your slab surrounded by edge protectors, hard foam and soft foam, then anything else necessary to ensure safe transit.

Local Freight Terminal Pickup
Avoid scheduling a delivery appointment. Terminal pickup locations range from 15-60 miles from your address depending where you are located. Pick up hours vary per terminal, however most locations offer night and weekend pickup hours. When you place an order our teram will contact you with the nearest terminal address to the address you provide, if it's a little further than you want to drive, you can still upgrade to Residential/Limited Access shipping.

Commercial Address Shipping
Shipping to your business address? Commercial shipping is for you! Skip the hassle and delays of setting up a delivery appointment with the freight carrier. Businesses on residential or limited access properties are not eligible for this option. A commercial address must have regular business hours, and a loading dock or forklift available for delivery. Commercial freight shipments do not include liftgate services at delivery and you will be responsible for unloading the shipment. Liftgates are available at an additional cost, if you are in need of this service please let us know in your order's notes!

Residential/Limited Access Shipping
All residential deliveries are scheduled with delivery appointment. The carrier will call you once your package has arrived to their loal terminal to schedule your delivery appointment. Appointments are set for a specific date and time frames vary 2-5 hours depending on the terminal and carrier's scheduling. As the receiver you must be available for delivery during this time frame to accept and inspect the package. Residential deliveries are not scheduled including a liftgate, but depending on your package size, liftgate and inside delivery services may be available at an additional cost.
Key Points When Recieving Your Package -
Upon arrival of your freight shipment, it is essential that you are present for inspection before accepting it from the driver. It is important to carefully examine the exterior packaging for any signs of damage, including torn packaging, dented corners, or other unproper handling. If something does not look right, it is best to note any and all minor details to the exterior packaging prior to signing off or accepting the package. Failing to inspect and note any damage before signing may result in forfeiting your right to file a damage claim for any external or internal damage discovered later.
When inspecting the packaging, drivers are not required to allow you to inspect the inside contents of the packaging, but In the rare occurance that there is major damage to the exterior packaging, it is advantageous to ask to open the package and inspect the inside contents before signing. If you believe that there is adnormal damage to the shipment, please call us at (515)-832-8733 and one of our team members can help guide you in the matter!
The driver must stay until the BOL is signed, so do not be in a hurry while inspecting the packaging. If you are unable to inspect the inside contents at that time, please note "Subject to Inspection" on the BOL prior to signing. Failure to inspect the exterior package before signing, and/or do not note any changes or damages to the packaging on the BOL (Freight Bill), you are for all practical purposes, waiving the right to collect on a damage claim, even if the damage is discovered later (known as concealed damage).
Upon receipt of your shipment, you should open and unpack the items immediately to allow proper airflow for storage. Leaving the order wrapped on the pallet or in the crate will encourage the wood to move, and could lead to cracks, warping, and other wood movements. Once your package has been accepted it is important to promptly unpack your order and ensure proper storage storage of the purchased items. Our packaging is designed for easy removal, requiring a pocket knife for slabs ordered with No Work, or SNS flattening services, and a T25 bit for orders Sanded or Finished.
As the receiver, it will be your responsibility to unload the shipment. Depending on the size/weight of the items purchased you may require assistance. Note that residential/limited access deliveries are a curbside service, and the driver is not responsible for unloading or moving the freight up to, or into your home or business. Liftgate or inside delivery services may be available at an additional cost, but availablility varies by area and depends on the size/weight of the shipment. Note: Any changes related to your shipment details must be requested before scheduling the shipment.
What if my slabs are damaged?
We take great pride, and care with packaging our slabs for safe transit. Although with the nature of shipping, sometimes a package can be damaged during transit. If your package or product is damaged upon arrival, please email us at service@thelumbershack.com with information and pictures of the crate/damage, or give us a call at (515)-832-8733 and one of our team members will be able to help! Damage must be reported within 3 business days after delivery.
Shipment damage is taken on a case by case basis to provide our customers with the best outcome for their project. Failure to inspect the exterior package before signing, and/or not noting any changes or damages to the BOL, you are for all practical purposes, waiving the right to collect on a damage claim.
Hidden damage, or concealed damage can be possible through transit. When accepting your package, and there is no exterior damage to the shipment, prior to signing the delivery reciept, note "Subject To Inspection".
