Upon receiving your items, it is essential to promptly remove them from the shipping crate. Store the items on sawhorses or a sturdy base to ensure adequate airflow around all sides, regardless of whether the top is finished or unfinished.
For finished tabletops, there are two standard finishing options that may have been applied. The first is a Pre-cat Satin Lacquer Finish, which is a durable commercial-grade lacquer. For routine maintenance, simply use a damp cloth with mild soap for cleaning, or a soft, dry cloth for regular dusting.
The second option is Rubio Monocoat Oil + 2C, an oil finish that penetrates deeply into the wood. For daily upkeep, Rubio recommends their Surface Care Spray Soap Kit. They also offer excellent customer service and a range of maintenance products to help you repair, renew, or refresh your tabletop in the future.
When cleaning a table top, it is advisable to wipe in the direction of the grain, typically along the length of the surface. This technique helps prevent scratches that can occur from circular motions or wiping against the grain. While our finishes are designed to resist heat and water, it is important to always place hot items on a trivet or hot pad to avoid damage. Additionally, using coasters for beverages that may sweat is a good practice to protect the surface.
